Patna, August 17 – The streets of Patna witnessed a fresh wave of protests on Saturday as animal rights supporters gathered to oppose the recent Supreme Court order concerning stray dogs.
The demonstration, organized under the leadership of Bhoori Foundation, Simran Foundation, and Apna Foundation, began at Maurya Lok and concluded at Dakbangla Chauraha. Animal lovers and social activists from not only Patna but also several districts across Bihar participated in the march.
This was the second major initiative in the city within a week. On August 15, a candle march was held at Kargil Chowk where participants voiced their support for stray dog rights.
Foundation representatives said the Supreme Court’s directive, which allows for relocation of stray dogs, requires reconsideration. According to them, a more effective solution lies in systematic vaccination and sterilization, which they believe can maintain balance between humans and animals. They argued that forced relocation is neither humane nor a long-term answer.
