A late-night drive ended in tragedy near Bengaluru’s Jindal flyover when a speeding car overturned and crashed into a state transport bus, killing all five youths inside the vehicle.
The accident took place at around 11.30 PM within the Madanayakanahalli police limits. According to police, an Indica car travelling from Tumakuru towards Bengaluru lost control and struck the right-side divider on the flyover. The impact caused the vehicle to flip twice before it rammed into a KSRTC bus.
There were 42 passengers on the bus, but none suffered injuries and the vehicle sustained only minor damage. The car, however, was completely crushed.
Four occupants died instantly at the scene. The driver, identified as Likhith, was taken to a private hospital but later died during treatment.
Another victim has been identified as Harshith, a second-year degree student at Sai Vidya College in Rajanukunte.
All five youths were reportedly from Doddaballapur and had left home without informing their families.
Harshith had been at home until about 8.30 PM on Saturday and told his family he was stepping out to meet a friend.
Police suspect over-speeding may have caused the crash. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
