Patna, Bihar: First-ever symbol for dignified healthcare for women unveils in Patna on 22nd November at City's buzziest corner in Boring Road's Sumati Palace. Hundreds of women articulate and champion dignity in healthcare in Patna, through an art installation, showcasing a symbol that brings a common understanding of different perspectives of dignity in healthcare. The installation is inspired by a safety pin, an everyday object, that is a woman’s constant companion, yet has so many different meanings. The pin symbolises dignity, care and a safe space in healthcare. The symbol is created in partnership with Gurugram based anonymous visual and performance artist Princess Pea, 15+ grassroots organisations and the women themselves. "The campaign symbol ‘Pin’ became the talking point in the town, which represents protection, care and dignity for women," says Kajal, campaign coordinator. About Khud se Pooche Khud se Pooche is a women-led movement that aims to encourage the women of Patna to take a self-reflective journey to understand and articulate their interpretations of ‘care with dignity. The campaign motivates women to engage with other women and start a conversation around dignified healthcare. The initiative is led by Patna based organisations including Sakhi an NGO that has been working in North Bihar since 1990 to help empower underprivileged fisherwomen through the formation of self-help groups; Gaurav Gramin Mahila Vikas Manch an NGO that works to provide free education, vocational training, skill development and microfinance services to young women and children from the Dalit and Muslim community in Bihar; and Bihar Youth for Child Rights (BYCR) a youth group led by Ashoka Young Change Maker, who wish to move the conversation around children's rights from adults to children.The installation is inspired by a safety pin, an everyday object, that is a woman’s constant companion, yet has so many different meanings.
