A fire broke out in a coach of Vande Bharat Express train going from Bhopal to Delhi's Hazrat Nizamuddin Terminal at Kurwai Kethora railway station in Madhya Pradesh earlier on Monday. However, no injury was reported in the incident, news agency PTI reported.

People who were passengers during the incident reported the terror that set in when they heard the sound of flames. 

According to one of the travellers on the coach, "I heard the sound of flames coming from beneath my seat in the C-14 coach. Everyone sprinted for cover. I saw the battery box on fire when the train came to a stop. We all notified the guard and disembarked with our luggage."

According to the news agency ANI, all passengers are secure and the fire has been put out.

The fire was reported in the battery box of one of the coaches, according to the Indian Railways, when the train departed from Rani Kamalapati station in New Delhi, formerly known as Habibganj, in the direction of Nizamuddin.

An Indian Railways official reported that the train was dispatched at roughly 10:05 am following the thorough inspection.

According to ANI, the railway official said that the fire department arrived at the scene in good time and put out the fire at 7:58 am.

"We learned that coach C-14 of the Vande Bharat Express 20171, which runs from Rani Kamlapati Station to Hazrat Nizamuddin Terminal (Delhi), had a fire and smoke incident. At Kurwai Kethora station, the train came to a stop. At 7:58 am, the fire was put out by the fire department," Rahul Shrivastava, West Central Railway CPRO, said.

PTI reported that there were 20-22 passengers in the coach and they were shifted to other coaches immediately.

An official informed PTI that the Rani Kamalapati - Hazrat Nizamuddin Vande Bharat train was promptly stopped between Kurwai and Kaithora stations in Vidisha district after some railway employees discovered the fire at around 6.45 am in the battery box of the C-12 coach.
