A 33-year-old man allegedly fell ill and later died after consuming a Frooti drink to break his fast in Haryana’s Faridabad. Police said the exact cause of death would be known only after the post-mortem report is received.

The deceased, identified as Ankush, was reportedly observing a fast on Thursday night when he consumed the packaged beverage along with family members at their residence in Hanuman Nagar area.

According to relatives, he began vomiting and complained of severe stomach pain soon after drinking it, following which his condition deteriorated rapidly.

The family rushed him to a nearby private hospital, but due to the seriousness of his condition, doctors there referred him to Badshah Khan Civil Hospital in Faridabad. At the civil hospital as well, doctors advised further referral to Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital for advanced care.

However, while the family was in the process of shifting him to another hospital, Ankush’s condition worsened further and he died on the way, the family said.

Station House Officer (SHO) of Khedi Pul police station, Devendra Singh, said the police received information from Sarvodaya Hospital at around 1.30 am that a man had been brought to the hospital dead.

During questioning, police said, the family informed them that Ankush had been fasting and had consumed a Frooti drink to break the fast before developing severe symptoms.

“The exact cause of death will be ascertained only after the post-mortem report is received, and further action will be taken accordingly,” police said.
