Patna: A 32-year-old shopkeeper was shot dead by bike-borne assailants in Digha police station area of Patna on Friday. The deceased, identified as Surendra Sahu, was refilling gas cylinders at his shop when two attackers arrived on a motorcycle and opened fire. A bullet struck him in the stomach, triggering panic in the area.

The assailants fled immediately after the attack. Locals rushed Sahu to a nearby private hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Digha SHO Avnish Kumar said police reached the spot soon after receiving information, cordoned off the area and called the forensic team to collect evidence. Senior officers also visited the spot, while CCTV footage from nearby locations is being examined.

"The motive behind the murder is yet to be established. However, a land dispute and family-related issues are emerging as possible angles of investigation. An FIR is being lodged and raids are underway to nab the accused," the SHO said.
