A jewelled urn studded with diamond, gold, and emerald worth Rs 1 crore was stolen during a Jain religious ritual at Red Fort park near Gate No 15, Delhi Police said on Saturday. Police confirmed there had been no theft inside the Red Fort premises.

The stolen items include a large gold jhari weighing approximately 760 grams, a coconut made of gold, and a smaller jhari studded with diamonds, rubies, and emeralds.

One of the organisers, Puneet Jain, claimed that the suspect had committed thefts three times earlier in temples while disguised as a priest.

According to the police, “A big jhari gold, coconut, and gold weighing approximately 760 grams, a small jhari studded with diamonds, rubies, and Emeralds, were stolen from the Red Fort premises during a religious ritual held on the premises of the Red Fort. Businessman Sudhir Jain used to bring Kalash for worship every day. Last Tuesday, it disappeared from the stage in the middle of the program. The suspect's activities have been captured in CCTV footage. The police have identified the suspect and have expressed the possibility of his arrest soon.”

Organisers said the missing Kalash was brought daily for worship by businessman Sudhir Jain.

Puneet Jain also shared old CCTV footage of previous thefts to assist the investigation. Delhi Police confirmed they are verifying the footage and working on the case.
