Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials seized 3.186 kg of cocaine worth Rs 38.4 crore from a woman from Ghana at Kempegowda International Airport.

The accused, identified as Jennifer Abbe, arrived in Bengaluru from Doha, Qatar earlier on Wednesday. Based on a tip-off, DRI officials conducted a thorough inspection and discovered the contraband in her possession.

Following the seizure, the woman was arrested and taken into custody for further investigation. Authorities are now probing the international drug syndicate involved in the smuggling operation.

Just days ago, two South African nationals were arrested in Bengaluru for smuggling and supplying MDMA, along with 37.87 kg of the drug, valued at Rs 275 crore.

Last month, a Bengaluru-based woman was arrested in Hyderabad for possession of MDMA worth Rs 6 lakh.

In January, customs officials at Bengaluru airport seized 23 kg of high-value marijuana, worth about Rs 23 crore, from three persons who arrived from Bangkok.

In December 2024, the Central Crime Branch police in Bengaluru seized 12 kg MDMA worth Rs 24 crore. A foreign national was also arrested, whom the police suspected was operating an intricate drug supply chain.
