A senior teacher involved in SIR-related work in Jaipur died by suicide on Monday after jumping in front of a train at the Bindayaka railway crossing. The 48-year-old teacher, identified as Mukesh Jangid, had written in a note recovered from his pocket that he was under pressure from a supervisor over official tasks linked to the SIR.
Police said Jangid left home around 4.30 am on his motorcycle, reportedly for work, and later went to the Bindayaka crossing where he ended his life. Bindayaka Station House Officer Vinod Verma said the incident came to light soon after, and an investigation is underway.
Jangid was posted at the Government Primary School in Nahri ka Bas and also served as a Booth Level Officer. His brother, Gajanand, said he had been stressed for several days and that a colleague had visited the previous night to help him fill out forms. He left home early in the morning before the incident occurred.
The suicide note mentioned that his supervisor, identified as Sitaram, was allegedly pressuring him to complete SIR-related work and warning him of suspension. Police are examining the note and other details as part of the enquiry.
Meanwhile, the family members of Jangid have lashed out at the police for neither registering an FIR nor handing over the suicide note that they found.
"He was under pressure due to SIR-related work. The police is not even registering an FIR in the case," said one of the relatives of the victim.
As the allegations popped up against the local police, India Today reached out to the local police officer in charge, Vinod Verma. However, he refused to speak on camera. Nevertheless, the police have mentioned that a death report had been filed concerning his death.
