Begusarai: Police in Bihar's Begusarai district are investigating a case in which a woman has alleged that she was gang-raped and subjected to severe physical assault by five men.
According to the survivor's statement, the incident took place on the night of June 11 near the Chakiya Police Station area. She alleged that around 11:30 pm, five men entered her home while she was outside using the toilet. The accused allegedly confined her husband inside a room before forcibly taking her to a secluded location, where she was sexually assaulted.
The woman further alleged that she was physically attacked when she attempted to resist and call for help. Her family later informed the police, and she was taken to a hospital for treatment.
After receiving initial medical care, the survivor reportedly continued to experience severe pain in her genital area and returned to the hospital for further examination. During the subsequent medical evaluation, doctors recovered several foreign objects from her genital tract, according to hospital findings and statements made by police officials.
Speaking to reporters, the woman said she had lost consciousness during the alleged assault and was unaware of what had happened afterward. She added that she continues to undergo treatment and experiences pain.
The survivor also claimed that her family had previously faced a similar ordeal. According to her, three men had entered her house approximately three months ago, assaulted her, attempted sexual violence, and fled with cash and jewellery. She alleged that despite informing the police, no action was taken at the time.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Anand Kumar Pandey said authorities are conducting a scientific investigation into the case. He stated that preliminary findings appear consistent with the woman's account and confirmed that medical examinations had revealed serious injuries.
"The woman's statement appears to be true. A detailed investigation is underway, and evidence is being examined," the officer said, adding that efforts are being made to identify and arrest all those involved.
The DSP also said that departmental action would be taken if any police personnel are found to have been negligent in handling earlier complaints connected to the case.
The incident has sparked concern in the region, with calls for a thorough investigation and swift justice. Police have assured that all aspects of the case will be examined and that appropriate legal action will be taken based on the evidence collected.
