Bihar Police issued a state-wide high alert today after intelligence reports suggested that three suspected terrorists entered the state through the Nepal border. The men are believed to be linked to the Pakistan-based militant group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).

The suspects have been identified as Hasnain Ali from Rawalpindi, Adil Hussain from Umerkot, and Mohammad Usman from Bahawalpur.

While there has been no official statement yet from the state police headquarters, intelligence inputs suggest that the trio may be planning a major attack in Bihar. Sources said the men reached Kathmandu in the second week of August before crossing into Bihar sometime in the third week.

To track them down, Bihar Police have circulated their sketches, photographs, and passport details to all units, with special focus on districts along the border.

Border areas such as Madhubani, Sitamarhi, Supaul, Araria, East Champaran, West Champaran, and Kishanganj have been placed on heightened alert. A reward of ₹50,000 has been announced for credible information leading to their arrest.

Security has been tightened across the state. The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), railway police, airport authorities, and local intelligence units are stepping up patrols and surveillance. Officers are closely monitoring crowded areas including railway stations, bus stands, and hotels.

Why It Matters

Bihar’s 729 km porous border with Nepal makes it particularly vulnerable to infiltration. This alert also comes at a sensitive time, just ahead of the Assembly elections, when political and security tensions are already running high. Security agencies fear that the suspects could be planning an attack in Bihar or beyond.

Conclusion

Bihar is on edge. Police have released photos and passport details of the suspects, announced a bounty, and urged citizens to stay vigilant. With elections approaching, security is tighter than ever. Authorities are calling on the public to immediately report anything suspicious.
