Patna, July 31, 2026: The India's International Movement to Unite Nations (IIMUN) Patna Conference 2026 commenced at Radiant International School, Patna, bringing together students, educators, policymakers, artists, and distinguished guests under one roof. The inaugural day featured panel discussions, interactive sessions, keynote addresses, and cultural performances aimed at inspiring young minds to become responsible and compassionate leaders.
The programme started with host Swati, Head of the IIMUN Patna, welcoming the gathering. This was followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the chief guests and patrons officially marking the beginning of the conference.
Senior Director of IIMUN, Mitesh, delivered an insightful address highlighting the vision, mission, and growing global impact of the organisation. He explained how IIMUN has evolved into one of the world's largest youth-led initiatives, empowering students through Model United Nations conferences, leadership workshops, and international educational tours.
Later, the event featured an interactive session with IPS officer and author Amit Lodha, whose book inspired the Netflix series Khakee: The Bihar Chapter. Reflecting on his journey, Lodha shared that while preparing for the UPSC examination, he realised he was not meant for IIT and instead found his calling in the civil services. He encouraged students to embrace failures as learning opportunities, believe in themselves, and make the most of every opportunity. Urging participants to take charge of their own lives and careers, he said resilience and self-belief were essential to achieving long-term success.
The programme also featured a musical performance that blended traditional Chhath songs with classical and English melodies, earning applause from the audience.
Former India's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Vijay K. Nambiar delivered a keynote address on leadership in an evolving global landscape. Reflecting on the changing world order, he observed that the era of a unipolar world is gradually giving way to a more multipolar system and stressed the need for greater representation of Gen Z in global decision-making. He spoke about ethical leadership, international cooperation, the growing influence of artificial intelligence, and the importance of safeguarding peace, security, and global solidarity.
Drawing from Homer's Odyssey, Christopher Nolan's interpretation of the epic, and Vedic literature, he highlighted timeless qualities of leadership such as courage, resilience, wisdom, and integrity. Referring to the Indian philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, he reminded students that the world is one family and encouraged them to become emotionally intelligent, disciplined, and responsible leaders capable of shaping the future.
Singer and MLA Maithili Thakur addressed the gathering, sharing her journey from aspiring to prepare for the UPSC examination to pursuing music after her father's encouragement to dedicate herself wholeheartedly to one path. Reflecting on her dual roles as an artist and a public representative, she said leadership is rooted in values, integrity, and the right ideology. Drawing from her experience as an MLA, she encouraged students to pursue their passions while remaining committed to serving society. Her address concluded with a musical performance that received warm applause from the audience.
The day's proceedings concluded with an interactive conversation featuring MLA and former IPS officer Shri Anand Mishra, NIFT Patna Director Col. Rahul Sharma, CEO of Indirapuram Group of Institutions Col. A. Sekhar, and singer and MLA Maithili Thakur. During the session, the panelists answered questions from students and shared insights from their professional journeys, encouraging young participants to pursue leadership with purpose and integrity.
Principal Manisha Sinha of Radiant International School, the host institution for the conference, welcomed the distinguished guests, delegates, and participants. Speaking about the school's collaboration with IIMUN, she highlighted the importance of creating platforms that nurture leadership and global awareness among students. Encouraging Gen Z to raise their voices responsibly, she urged them to express their opinions with respect, discipline, and constructive dialogue. Thanking the judges, guests, organisers, and participants, she formally declared the three-day IIMUN Patna Conference open.
