Airtel users across many parts of India found themselves without proper network service on Monday, as one of the country’s biggest telecom providers faced widespread connectivity issues.
From the afternoon onwards, complaints started pouring in about mobile data not working, disrupted voice calls and problems with sending SMS. According to outage-tracking platform Downdetector, more than 2,300 reports of Airtel service disruptions were logged by 4:04 PM, pointing towards a major nationwide issue.
Airtel, acknowledging the problem, released a statement saying that "We are currently experiencing a network outage, our team is actively working to resolve the issue and restore services promptly. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused."
For many customers, this outage was not just a temporary glitch. Several users online expressed frustration as they were unable to make voice calls or use SMS services for prolonged periods. Some complained that even though they had opted for 5G plans, the network kept switching them back to 4G, leading to both irregular connectivity and unexpected data deductions.
The incident sparked strong reactions on social media, with customers voicing their disappointment and demanding better reliability from the telecom giant. Many pointed out that despite paying for upgraded plans, the existing network infrastructure remains inconsistent and far from seamless.
While the company has assured that its technical teams are on the job to restore normal services soon, Airtel users across the country are now waiting for a permanent and smoother solution to avoid repeated troubles.
