A 29-year-old engineer died by suicide by jumping in front of a train in Chhattisgarh's Bilaspur city after reportedly experiencing significant distress following a rape allegation made against him by his girlfriend. Authorities recovered a suicide note which said, “I have been betrayed in love.”

According to the police, the 29-year-old victim met the woman through a matrimonial website while working in Noida. The relationship grew closer over time, but a rape allegation was later filed against him by the woman.
Following the case, Gaurav was arrested and spent time in jail before being released on bail approximately 15 days prior to his death.
After returning home, Gaurav reportedly showed signs of deep distress and social withdrawal. He stopped interacting with neighbours and appeared consistently upset.
A close friend of the victim, Sandeep Gupta, said that Gaurav was always bright and cheerful, but recent events broke him. Another friend, Tipsy Makkar, said that in recent days, he did not talk much to anyone and seemed very mentally disturbed.
Senior Superintendent of Police Rajnesh Singh said that a detailed investigation is being conducted into the reasons for the suicide.
