Six workers were killed, and six others injured after a structure collapsed at a private steel plant in Chhattisgarh’s capital Raipur on Friday, police said.
The incident occurred at the plant of Godavari Ispat Ltd in the Siltara area on the outskirts of the city, a senior police official confirmed.
“Soon after being alerted about it, a police team was sent to the spot, and a rescue operation was launched. As per preliminary information, six workers were killed and six others sustained injuries,” the official said.

The injured labourers have been hospitalised, while rescue operations continue as more people are feared trapped, the official added.
Families of the workers have also gathered outside the factory premises. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the collapse.
