Five people, including two children, were burnt alive and killed as a fire broke out in a moving sleeper bus near Mohanlalganj in Lucknow. The bus, which was en route from Delhi to Bihar, was carrying around 60 passengers at the time of the incident.

The fire engulfed the bus within minutes, reducing it to ashes. Most passengers were asleep when the blaze began. Thick smoke inside the bus woke them up, triggering panic and chaos. As flames spread rapidly, many struggled to escape.

The driver smashed the windshield, jumped out, and fled the scene. Several passengers got trapped under the seat and were unable to escape as an extra seat installed near the driver’s cabin obstructed the exit, making it difficult for passengers to get out.

The intensity of the fire was such that flames were visible from nearly a kilometre away. Within just 10 minutes, the entire bus was consumed by the fire.

Locals rushed to the scene after hearing about the fire and quickly informed the police and fire brigade. However, by the time emergency services arrived and managed to control the flames, the bus was already completely gutted.
