In a disturbing incident in Maharashtra, a four-year-old girl was raped and murdered in a village in Pune district, triggering massive outrage. The accused has been identified as a 65-year-old man who has been arrested.

The incident has sent shock waves across the district, prompting villagers to gather in large numbers and hold a demonstration. The protest led to traffic disruption in the area. Soon after, police were called in to pacify the furious residents.

It is learnt that the accused had bludgeoned the minor girl to death with a stone before hiding her body in a cowshed. The name of the accused has not been revealed yet. Police have launched a probe into the case.

MLA Rohit Pawar Demands ‘Harshest Possible punishment For Accused

NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar has reacted strongly to the “utterly horrifying" incident, demanding the “harshest possible" punishment for the accused. The MLA also mentioned that the accused was previously involved in the assaults of two to three minor girls.

In a post on X, Pawar wrote, “The incident in Nasrapur village in Bhor taluka, where a four-year-old girl was brutalized and then stoned to death, is utterly horrifying. This case must be immediately fast-tracked in court, and this monster should be given the harshest possible punishment—death by hanging—so that such beasts are kept in check. Information is emerging that this monster had previously assaulted two or three other little girls."

“Every week, at least one such tragic incident comes to light, and today, even little girls in the state are not safe. In 2025, there were 8,643 rape cases in the state—that’s 24 per day or one every hour—which is a disgrace to Maharashtra. If these criminals are to be reined in, the Shakti Act must be enforced immediately. I request the government to convene a one-day special session and implement the Shakti Act without delay!" he added.

Minor Gang-raped In MP

In a separate case in Madhya Pradesh’s Panna district, a minor girl was allegedly gang-raped by three unknown men in a remote forest area. The men were said to have waylaid the girl and her two male companions, robbed them, and held them captive before sexually assaulting her.

Subsequently, police booked the accused under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act and launched an extensive search.

The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday evening. The minor had gone to meet a male acquaintance, and the two, along with his friend, were travelling on a motorcycle when they halted at a lonely stretch.

Soon, three men on two motorcycles arrived, allegedly picked a quarrel and demanded that the girl be handed over. When her acquaintance objected, they turned aggressive.

A senior officer stated that the assailants robbed a silver chain, a mobile phone and cash, then falsely claimed they were taking the trio to a police station, the TOI report mentioned. Instead, they forced them into a dense forest, separated the two youths from the girl, beat the men, and made them sit away while the girl was dragged into the bushes and raped by each of the three before they escaped.
