In a tragic event, authorities in Bihar's Aurangabad district said that a 38-year-old man was allegedly attacked and killed by individuals involved in liquor smuggling on Sunday for sharing their information with police.
Locals and the relatives of the dead claimed that a man from the nearby village of Jaynagara who was involved in smuggling alcohol visited her home on Sunday and asked for the now-deceased man.
About twelve individuals started hunting for the man after they were unable to locate him. They located him and beat him.
The critically hurt man passed out, and the attackers transported him to Sadar Hospital in Aurangabad.
They told the medical personnel that he had been hurt after falling from a roof.
According to locals, the man was certified dead by the doctors. As they were driving home from the hospital, police and family members stopped the SUV and removed the body.
Family members and locals blocked the primary road to demand the swift arrest of the guilty.
After a murder case was filed against four named suspects and eight to twelve unidentified suspects based on the statement of the deceased's widow's mother, Nabinagar station house officer (SHO) inspector Bijendra Kumar Singh reported that the blockade was lifted, the postmortem examination was performed during the night with special permission from the district magistrate, and the body was given to the family for cremation.
According to Superintendent of Police Swapna Meshram, the mother of the deceased said in the FIR that the event was connected to a loan of ₹50,000 that her son had obtained from one of the attackers.
She claimed in court that the defendants had coerced her son into signing an agreement before dragging him along and killing him when he refused.
