A stampede broke out at a religious gathering in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras on Tuesday, resulting in the deaths of 27 people. Confirming the fatalities, Chief Medical Officer Rajkumar Aggarwal told that so far "we have received 27 bodies, out of which 25 are women and two are men."

The religious event for Lord Shiva was held in Ratibhanpur. As the event concluded, a stampede ensued, causing several people, including women and children, to be injured.

A total of 15 women and children were taken to Etah Medical College, where they are receiving treatment. There are concerns that more people may have died.

Taking cognizance of the incident, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adinatha directed the officials to reach the site immediately and expedite the relief work.

Wishing for the speedy recovery of the wounded, the Chief Minister has also instructed officials to ensure the injured are getting proper treatment at the hospital.
