

At least 22 people were killed, and 30 others injured after a passenger bus skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district on Monday morning. The death toll is feared to rise further as many of the injured are in critical condition.
The accident occurred at around 10 am when the bus, travelling from Ramnagar to Udhampur, reportedly lost control while negotiating a blind curve and turned turtle before falling down the hillside.
The tragic incident took place in the Khagot area of Ramnagar in the district. Soon after the authorities were informed about the mishap, multiple ambulances were sent to the spot to assist in rescue operations.
Singh Speaks To Udhampur DC After Tragedy
Union Minister Jitendra Singh confirmed the accident in a post on X. The Minister stated that he spoke to Udhampur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Minga Sherpa following the accident involving a public transport bus travelling from Ramnagar. He added that rescue operations were launched and authorities were arranging medical aid for the injured.
“Just now spoke to DC Udhampur, Sh Minga Sherpa after learning about a tragic road accident, less than an hour ago, at village Kanote, involving a public transport bus on way from Ramnagar to Udhampur. The rescue operation has been immediately undertaken. Heavy casualties are expected. All possible assistance is being provided. The injured will be shifted for medical aid," the Union Minister tweeted.
The BJP leader added that arrangements for the airlifting of seriously injured passengers were also being made.
“Arrangements being made to airlift the seriously injured. I am in constant touch with the local administration as well as our local workers team led by Sh Rajinder Sharma," he added.
