Ahead of Eid Al Fitr, the UAE’s General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat has announced that prayers will be held inside mosques across the UAE.
Releasing a statement on X, the authority said the decision applies nationwide, confirming that prayers will not take place in traditional open-air Eid prayer areas.
According to the Gulf News, the officials said that the measure aims to ensure the smooth organisation of prayers and maintain public safety as worshippers are expected to attend mosques across the emirates.
The authority has urged the public to follow official guidance and instructions for Eid prayers.
Eid Al Fitr prayers mark the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan and are traditionally held in large congregations, often in designated outdoor areas.
Eid 2026 is set to take place amid the ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia and heightened security alerts.
In addition to the UAE, Kuwait has also announced that the Eid Al Fitr 2026 prayers will take place only inside mosques, with no use of courtyards or open spaces.
Qatar’s Ministry of Awqaf (Endowments) and Islamic Affairs has also announced that Eid Al Fitr prayers will be held inside closed mosques across the country to ensure worshippers’ safety.
