US President Donald Trump on Monday said that the commercial and maritime vessels, which were stuck in the conflict-torn Strait of Hormuz, have started moving after Washington and Tehran agreed on a peace deal. The truce pact is expected to be signed on June 19.

Talking about the development from his Truth Social account, Trump wrote, "Ships are starting to move, many loaded up with oil, out of the Strait of Hormuz. They are going along the Southern “Highway,” which is totally safe, secure, and pristine. There are other areas of travel, also!!!"

Trump's social media post came hours after the United States and Iran agreed to sign the truce deal that is aimed at ending the ongoing conflict, reopening the Strait of Hormuz and restarting negotiations over Tehran's nuclear programme. Although the full text of the proposed deal has not been revealed yet, a senior Iranian official with some knowledge of the draft memorandum told Reuters that the deal involves several key provisions, including sanction relief and the resumption of nuclear talks, and lifting restrictions on Iranian ports. In addition, provisions were also made to put an end to the regional conflict.

TRUMP LIFTED US BLOCKADE ON STRAIT OF HORMUZ

As soon as the two parties agreed on the peace pact, Donald Trump announced the removal of the US blockade on the maritime chokepoint. The blockade was introduced on April 12, following the failed ceasefire talks between the US and Iran in Pakistan.

"The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete. Congratulations to all! I hereby fully authorize the toll free opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and, simultaneously herewith, authorize the immediate removal of the United States Naval blockade. Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow!" Trump wrote on Truth Social.
