A Republican candidate in Texas has sparked outrage after posting a campaign-style video vowing to "end Islam" while setting fire to a copy of the Quran.

Valentina Gomez, who is running for Texas's 31st Congressional District seat in 2026, shared the clip in a now-deleted post on X, triggering widespread condemnation.

Despite Muslims comprising just about 1 per cent of Texas's population, Gomez has repeatedly framed her campaign around Islamophobic rhetoric, according to The Independent.

GOMEZ TORCHES QURAN, DELIVERS ANTI-ISLAM RANT

In the video, Gomez delivers a controversial message, saying, "Your daughters will be raped and your sons beheaded, unless we stop Islam once and for all." She then proceeds to burn the Quran on camera.

"America is a Christian nation, so those terrorist Muslims can f*** off to any of the 57 Muslim nations." Gomez added.

The video ends with Gomez stating she is "powered by Jesus Christ", leaving no doubt that religion is at the core of her campaign messaging.

Despite the criticism, Gomez doubled down on her actions.

"I stand by my actions & I will never bend a knee to the book that is responsible for the massacre of October 7th, took the lives of 13 US service members at Abbey Gate, & calls for our assassination," she wrote on X.

LONG LIST OF PROVOCATIVE INCIDENTS

This is not the first time Gomez has found herself in the spotlight for provocative actions. In May 2025, she stormed a Muslim civic engagement event at the Texas State Capitol, snatching the microphone before launching into an anti-Islam rant. Video footage from the event captured her declaring, "Islam has no place in Texas. Help me to Congress so we can end the Islamisation of America. I only fear God."

Her campaign has consistently leaned on extreme rhetoric. In December 2024, Gomez released a video showing the staged execution of a hooded immigrant, calling for "public executions" of undocumented migrants accused of violent crimes.

Earlier in 2025, Gomez again stirred controversy after recording herself burning LGBTQ+ literature. She vowed to ban such materials if elected.
