U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and briefed him on the recent meeting in Alaska with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The two leaders had a lengthy call following the much-anticipated summit in Anchorage, Alaska, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed.

On X, President Zelensky revealed that he and President Trump had a “long and substantive conversation” that lasted more than an hour and a half, including around an hour of direct bilateral talks.

Zelensky said the call began with “one-on-one talks before inviting European leaders to join us.” He added that Trump informed him about his discussion with the Russian leader and the main points of their meeting. “We also discussed positive signals from the American side regarding participation in guaranteeing Ukraine’s security,” Zelensky noted. He reaffirmed Ukraine’s readiness to work “with maximum effort to achieve peace” and stressed that “it is important that America’s strength has an impact on the development of the situation.”

In his post, Zelensky confirmed that Ukraine supports President Trump’s proposal for a trilateral meeting involving Ukraine, Russia, and the United States. “We support President Trump’s proposal for a trilateral meeting with Ukraine, Russia, and the USA,” he wrote.

Ukraine emphasized that key issues should be discussed directly at the leaders’ level, and that the trilateral format is well-suited for this. Stressing the importance of keeping Europeans engaged at every stage, Zelensky said their involvement would help ensure reliable security guarantees alongside the United States.

He also revealed plans to meet President Trump in Washington, D.C. to “discuss all of the details regarding ending the killing and the war,” adding: “I’m grateful for the invitation.”
