The installation comes amid renewed scrutiny over newly released US Justice Department records linked to the Epstein investigation that include sexual assault allegations involving Trump, which the White House has denied.

A new art installation depicting figures resembling US President Donald Trump and late financier Jeffrey Epstein has appeared on the National Mall in Washington, DC.

The sculpture, created by the anonymous artist collective Secret Handshake, surfaced earlier this week and depicts the two figures posed in a scene inspired by the iconic moment from the film Titanic. The installation appeared on the Mall without any prior announcement.

The artwork has emerged at a time when US President Donald Trump is facing renewed scrutiny following the release of additional records linked to the federal investigation into Jeffrey Epstein.

Last week, the United States Department of Justice released additional FBI records summarising interviews conducted in 2019 with an unidentified woman during the agency’s probe into Epstein.

According to the newly disclosed documents, the woman alleged that Trump attempted to force her to perform oral sex after Epstein introduced her to the future president in New York or New Jersey in the 1980s, when she said she was between 13 and 15 years old. FBI agents interviewed the woman four times in 2019.

The Justice Department had previously released only a summary of one of those interviews, in which the woman accused Epstein of molesting her when she was a teenager. The newly posted records indicate the additional allegation involving Trump.

White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt rejected the claims, describing them as “completely baseless accusations, backed by zero credible evidence.”

The Justice Department also cautioned that some of the documents contain “untrue and sensationalist claims” made against Trump. The accuracy of the woman’s allegations could not be independently verified, and FBI records indicate agents stopped speaking with her in 2019.

POLITICAL SCRUTINY OVER EPSTEIN FILES

The documents were released after the department said they had previously been “incorrectly coded as duplicative” and therefore not published.

Their disclosure has intensified political scrutiny in Congress over the government’s handling of records related to the Epstein investigation. Democrats have accused the administration of concealing material related to Trump.

A committee in the United States House of Representatives has voted to subpoena Attorney General Pam Bondi to question her about the handling and disclosure of the documents.

Trump has repeatedly said his association with Epstein ended in the mid-2000s and that he was unaware of the financier’s sexual abuse. Previously released records show Trump flew several times on Epstein’s plane in the 1990s, something Trump has denied.

Epstein died in custody in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex-trafficking charges, bringing renewed global attention to allegations involving powerful figures connected to him.
