A lighthearted jab at Microsoft Teams by an X account followed by its short response to the post has made the internet laugh out loud.

It all started with the question posed by ‘memes.xlsx’, popular for its "Excel memes” on the microblogging platform.

“Can they shut down Teams instead of TikTok,” the X account posted that went viral with over 2 million views. This question triggered a one-word response from Microsoft 365: “No”, accompanied by a heart emoji.

The interaction occurred amid TikTok’s uncertain future in the US. A federal ban is set to take effect on January 19, potentially shutting down TikTok’s US operations unless a last-minute intervention occurs, Reuters reports. TikTok, the widely popular social media platform, is used by 170 million Americans.

Microsoft Teams, a workplace collaboration tool, serves an entirely different audience. As part of the Microsoft 365 suite, it facilitates workspace productivity through chat, video conferencing, and file sharing.
