US President Donald Trump on Tuesday told countries facing oil shortages from disruptions at the Strait of Hormuz to either “buy from the US" or “build up some delayed courage" and secure their own supplies from the critical waterway.
In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump called out countries, specifically pointing to the United Kingdom, for not helping the US request to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran has effectively closed due to the Middle East war.
“All of those countries that can’t get jet fuel because of the Strait of Hormuz, like the United Kingdom, which refused to get involved in the decapitation of Iran, I have a suggestion for you: Number 1, buy from the U.S., we have plenty, and Number 2, build up some delayed courage, go to the Strait, and just TAKE IT," the US President wrote.
He also warned that the United States would no longer step in to help, saying countries must “start learning how to fight for yourself."
“You’ll have to start learning how to fight for yourself, the U.S.A. won’t be there to help you anymore, just like you weren’t there for us," trump wrote.
Trump also added that Iran had been “essentially decimated" and that “the hard part is done."
“Iran has been, essentially, decimated. The hard part is done. Go get your own oil!" he said.
In a separate post, Trump also criticised France for refusing to allow planes carrying military supplies to Israel to fly over its territory.
“The Country of France wouldn’t let planes headed to Israel, loaded up with military supplies, fly over French territory. France has been VERY UNHELPFUL with respect to the “Butcher of Iran," who has been successfully eliminated! The U.S.A. will REMEMBER!!!" he noted.
