Israel’s offensive against Hamas intensified further as Israeli forces pushed deeper into the city of Rafah in southern Gaza, with Palestinian health officials reporting 19 deaths and dozens of injuries.

Meanwhile, ramping up the pressure on Tel Aviv, Egypt on Sunday said it would intervene in support of South Africa's case against Israel at the International Court of Justice.

Antony Blinken said the United States was continuing to press Israeli leaders to provide a plan for Gaza once the war is finally over.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a Memorial Day speech vowed to continue fighting until victory in memory of those killed in the war. Netanyahu said that Israel has "completed about half" of its war against Hamas in Gaza, "but we are committed to completing this sacred task".
