Heatwaves typically involve dehydration, heat cramps, heat exhaustion and heat strokes. Intense heatwave can lead to Edema (swelling) and Syncope (Fainting) accompanied by high fever.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow warning for Delhi for Monday with heat wave conditions forecast at some places. Heatwaves can cause fatigue, weakness, dizziness, headaches, nausea, vomiting, muscle cramps, excessive sweating and even lead to heat stroke.
Measures that can be taken to avoid heat include staying indoors during peak hours, wearing light-coloured clothing, keeping the head covered and consuming ample fluids.
