Amid continuous rainfall in Mumbai in recent days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert and predicted cloudy sky and light to moderate downpour in the city on Saturday.

The capital city of Maharashtra has been battling heavy rains, which have caused waterlogging in parts of the city, troubling the residents and disrupting daily lives.

The city and suburban areas are expected to receive more rainfall today.

The IMD has forecast a mostly cloudy sky with moderate rain in Mumbai and nearby areas, with expected temperatures between 26°C and 30°C.

Orange alert has been sounded in other parts of Maharashtra, including in Pune, Raigad, Thane, Jalna, Satara, and Aurangabad. The weather department has also issued a yellow alert in Nagpur, Nashik, Charapur, and Latur.

According to the IMD, Marathwada and North Madhya Maharashtra may get light to moderate rain with thunderstorms. Most areas in Konkan-Goa and South Madhya Maharashtra are also likely to see light to moderate rain. Strong winds are expected to continue, blowing at 45 to 55 kmph and sometimes reaching up to 65 kmph.

Officials said the continuous rain in the region is due to a cyclonic circulation over Vidarbha and nearby areas at mid and upper levels.
