BJP MP and actor Kangana Ranaut on Thursday said that the party's national president, JP Nadda, personally called her and asked her to delete a social media post she had made referencing US President Donald Trump’s remarks on Apple's manufacturing plans in India.
Ranaut's now-deleted post speculated on why Trump may be uncomfortable with Apple's shift to India, comparing him to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In a statement shared on X, Ranaut said, "Respected national president Shri @JPNadda ji called and asked me to delete the tweet I had posted regarding Trump asking Apple CEO Tim Cook not to manufacture in India. I regret posting that very personal opinion of mine. As per instructions, I immediately deleted it from Instagram as well. Thanks".
Here's what Kangana Ranaut's now-deleted post read:
"What could be the reason of this love loss. 1) He is American President but world's most loved leader is Indian Prime Minister. 2. Trump's second term but Indian Prime Minister’s third term. 3. Undoubtedly Trump is alpha male but our PM is sab alpha male ka baap. What do you think? This is personal jealousy or diplomatic insecurity?"
Actor Kangana Ranaut weighed in after US President Donald Trump said he told Apple CEO Tim Cook, "I don't want you building in India," during a business event in Doha.
The comment came while discussing Apple's expansion plans, which Trump seemed keen to reroute away from India.
"I said to him, my friend, I am treating you very good. You are coming up with $500 billion, but now I hear you are building all over India. I don't want you building in India. You can build in India, if you want to take care of India because India is one of the highest tariff nations in the world, so it is very hard to sell in India," the US President said.
Trump did not share further details about the outcome of the discussion or any changes in Apple’s plans in India.
