Director Buchi Babu Sana has announced changes to Peddi following criticism over certain scenes in the film, with a revised version set to be screened in theatres from June 17. The updated cut will include additional scenes featuring Janhvi Kapoor, as well as a new sequence involving Jagapathi Babu.

Speaking at a success meet on June 14, Sana confirmed that the film had already been re-edited to restore previously deleted scenes. According to the director, three new scenes have been added to the theatrical version, including two focused on Janhvi Kapoor's character.

"The audience will connect even more with the character after watching these scenes," Sana said, adding that the changes were intended to provide greater emotional depth to her role.

The revisions come after Peddi, which released on June 4, faced criticism from a section of viewers over the portrayal of female characters. Several audience members objected to scenes involving Janhvi Kapoor's character Achiyyamma, particularly sequences that they felt relied on suggestive camera framing. Another scene depicting public harassment during an election campaign also drew criticism online, with some viewers questioning the film's treatment of romance and character interactions.

In response to the backlash, Sana issued a public apology, stating that cinema should entertain and connect with audiences without making anyone feel uncomfortable or disrespected. He said the filmmakers respected the concerns raised and clarified that the controversial scenes had been removed. The director also maintained that there was never any intention to disrespect any actor or character.

Despite the controversy, Peddi has continued to perform strongly at the box office. The film reportedly earned around ₹51 crore on its opening day and has crossed ₹307 crore worldwide, making it one of the highest-grossing Indian films of 2026 so far.

The film stars Ram Charan in the lead role alongside Shiva Rajkumar, Boman Irani, Divyenndu and Janhvi Kapoor. The music has been composed by A. R. Rahman.

The revised version of Peddi will begin screening in cinemas from June 17.
