South Korean boy band BTS member Jin celebrates his 31st birthday today, December 4. The Epiphany singer has been serving in the military since he enlisted on December 13, 2022. He will continue to execute his mandatory duties through 2024 until the end of the 18-month contract. Although the oldest BTS member is busy with his work commitments in the military, the BTS Army has been celebrating this special day through various exhibitions in Seoul. But the most heartwarming gesture was from one of the boy band members — Jimin. On the occasion of Jin turning a day older, Jimin changed his Weverse profile picture which now features his fellow mate Jin.

On December 3, Jimin’s sweet gesture of changing his Weverse profile pic to that of a joint photograph of him and Jin was noticed by eagle-eyed fans. A screenshot of Jimin’s profile pic is now doing the rounds on the internet, with BTS fans going gaga over it. Weverse is a social media platform created by South Korean entertainment company Hybe Corporation where K-pop artists can interact with their fans.

“BTS WEVERSE POST JIMIN 231204. JM: Jin hyung birthday where Seok-jin is not there,” read one of the posts dropped on X (formerly Twitter) featuring the profile pic screenshot. Soon after the post surfaced on the internet, social media users and the BTS Army were quick to react to it. While one individual exclaimed, “just fell to my knees” another quipped, “I was smiling watching Seok-jin’s cute clips then tears started to come out after reading Jimin’s post”. Sympathizing with Jimin, a third person wrote, “We are missing Jin a little extra today. I can’t even imagine how hard it is for Jimin who is used to having him around”.

Even though Jin is enlisted in the Army, he has shown his love for fans in a unique way. On December 1, Jin’s elder brother Kim Seok-jung shared a carousel of pictures on Instagram, documenting the elaborate birthday exhibitions the BTS Army hosted in accordance with Jin’s 31st birthday. In his post, Kim Seok-jung revealed that it was Jin who had asked him to visit one of these fan exhibitions. “I went to an exhibition organized by fans to celebrate my younger brother’s birthday… My brother who is in the unit and has difficulty moving has been contacted and said thank you through this post,” read an excerpt of the post.
