Bigg Boss, one of India’s most prominent reality television franchises, is set for a multi-edition launch on September 6, with four regional versions scheduled to premiere on the same day. The move marks a major expansion of the franchise, bringing together its Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil and Kannada editions for a simultaneous launch.
The simultaneous launch follows a decision announced by JioStar in July to bring multiple editions of the franchise to audiences at the same time. The move is being positioned as a first-of-its-kind expansion for the long-running reality show.
Individual editions have also recorded strong audience engagement. The recently concluded Bigg Boss Telugu season, hosted by Nagarjuna, reportedly recorded a 19.6 TVR during its grand finale. JioStar has said that Bigg Boss Malayalam reaches around 84 per cent of Kerala’s population.
Digital engagement has also become an important part of the franchise. The 24/7 live streams of the South editions reportedly accumulated more than 11 billion viewing minutes, while approximately 1.4 million unique users participated through live chat and Ask Me Anything sessions. Across the South Indian editions, viewers have cast more than 2.2 billion votes, highlighting the level of audience participation.
The September 6 premieres will also mark the beginning of a new phase for the franchise as it attempts to bring multiple language audiences into the Bigg Boss ecosystem simultaneously. While the core format remains similar across editions, each regional version has developed its own audience base, hosts and viewing patterns over the years.
