The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially announced the new date for the re-examination of NEET (UG) 2026 following the cancellation of the earlier exam amid the paper leak controversy that triggered nationwide outrage among students and parents.

According to the latest notification issued by the NTA with the approval of the Government of India, the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination will now be conducted on Sunday, June 21, 2026.

The announcement comes after weeks of uncertainty for nearly lakhs of medical aspirants whose examination journey was disrupted due to allegations of question paper leaks and irregularities. The controversy had raised serious concerns regarding the credibility and security of one of India’s largest entrance examinations.

A FRESH START FOR LAKHS OF ASPIRANTS

The revised examination schedule is expected to give students another opportunity to compete fairly for admissions to MBBS, BDS and allied medical courses across the country.

Students and parents had been anxiously waiting for clarity after the earlier NEET examination was cancelled. Many aspirants expressed concerns about stress, uncertainty and the pressure of preparing again within a short span of time.

Education experts believe the re-examination will now be closely watched across the country, especially after the massive debate around examination security and transparency.

NTA URGES STUDENTS TO TRUST OFFICIAL SOURCES

In its official notice, the NTA requested candidates and parents to rely only on official communication channels for updates related to the examination.

The agency has advised students not to believe rumours or unverified information circulating on social media platforms and messaging groups.

Candidates can contact the NTA through its official helpline numbers — 011-40759000 and 011-69227700 — for queries related to the examination process. Queries can also be sent through email at neet-ug@nta.ac.in.

SECURITY LIKELY TO BE TIGHTER THIS TIME

Following the controversy surrounding the cancelled examination, stricter monitoring and enhanced security arrangements are expected for the June 21 re-exam.
