What are the Disha Nirdeshak Batein in the budget?
1) Social justice as effective and necessary governance model, we have shown that it is a successful model
2) Four major caste groups, namely the poor, women, youth and the farmers
3) Focus on infrastructure: this year, there has been a massive increase of 11% in capital expenditure, resulting in Rs. 11,11,111 crores of capex. This continues the trend of the last four years.
4) Using of technology as a huge opportunity; Digital Public Infrastructure as almost a factor of production, it is actually bringing in value addition to every sector and improves our productivity
5) High powered committee for extensive consideration of challenges arising from population growth and demographic challenges
We don’t have a specific target for disinvestment in FY25; hence, we have allocated a category for ‘other receipts.’ If an opportunity arises, we may surpass this designated amount, DIPAM Secretary said during the post-budget press conference by FM Nirmala Sitharaman.
DIPAM Secretary, Tuhin Kanta Pandey, said, “Among our 61 listed CPSEs and 16 PSBs, on January 01, 2021, their combined market capitalisation was Rs. 15 lakh crore and today, it is Rs. 58 lakh crores. So, we created around Rs. 42 lakh crore of wealth in the public sector, which is shared with all minority shareholders as well.”
Revenue Secretary, Sanjay Malhotra said, “There are a large number of tax demands which are pending, numbering to around 2.68 crore demands, amounting to a total of Rs. 35 lakh crores
However, about 2.1 crore of 2.68 crore demands are valued at less than Rs. 25,000, and many of these are very very old, some of them dating back to 1962; many of them are unreconciled due to systemic issues
Out of 2.1 crore tax demands, about 58 lakh demand entries are for the period pertaining up to 2009-10 and another 53 lakh demands are for the period from 2010-11 onwards.
So, the total amount remitted is less than Rs. 3,500 crores.
