India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah attended Coldplay's second show in Ahmedabad on Sunday, 26th January. Bumrah, who is currently out of the Indian team due to a back injury, was seen having a gala time at the concert. Bumrah received massive cheers from the crowd when Coldplay's lead singer Chris Martin addressed him in the audience.

The British band gave an incredible tribute to the Indian fast bowler by singing a couple of lines dedicated to him. The band joked that they did not enjoy him destroying England in cricket matches.

Coldplay had also displayed Bumrah's signed Test jersey on the stage as a mark of respect to the pacer at his home ground in Ahmedabad. This was not the first time that Coldplay mentioned Bumrah in their concerts in India. Earlier, during the Mumbai show, the band had played a video of Bumrah running through the England batting line-up in their 2024 Test series.

On the same show, Chris Martin had joked that the band had received a legal notice from Bumrah's lawyers for using his name during the concert. Martin had read the imaginary letter aloud.

"I'm so sorry, but I have to read a letter from Jasprit Bumrah's lawyer. I have to do this because, otherwise, we could be sent to prison and wouldn't be able to perform in Ahmedabad," Martin had said.

They made several other references during the shows, which finally built up to the moment of Bumrah himself arriving at the concert.

Sunday's show was live-streamed on Hotstar. Indian cricket fans were left stunned after seeing Bumrah live on TV. For once, Bumrah did not have the ball in hand and was enjoying some downtime away from the Indian cricket team.

Bumrah's Injury Concern

Bumrah is currently out of the Indian team due to a back injury that he suffered in the final Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Bumrah was not named in India's T20I and ODI squads vs England. The pacer is expected to get fit in time for the Champions Trophy, which starts on February 19. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar said that Bumrah's availability for group stage matches for the ICC tournament will depend on his fitness.
