The Indian junior women’s hockey team extended its winning run on its Europe tour with a 2-1 victory over Belgium on Tuesday at the Hockey Center of Excellence, Wilrijkse Plein in Antwerp.

Lalthantluangi (35’) and Geeta Yadav (50’) scored for India.

The first half remained goalless, with both teams unable to break the deadlock in a closely contested affair. India finally opened the scoring in the 35th minute when Lalthantluangi successfully converted a penalty stroke.

Belgium equalised in the final quarter through Van Hellemont (48’), who netted a field goal. However, India responded swiftly, with Geeta Yadav scoring a field goal just two minutes later to restore the lead.

India then defended resolutely in the final 10 minutes to deny Belgium a second equaliser and secure another win.

With back-to-back victories, the Indian junior women’s team will face Belgium for the third and final time on the tour on June 12.
