The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted the salvo launch of two Pralay missiles off the coast of Odisha on Wednesday.
The launch, which took place around 10:30 AM, was part of user evaluation trials. Both missiles were fired in quick succession from the same launcher, following their intended flight paths and meeting all set objectives.
The event was shared by DRDO on X, along with a visual of the missile launch.
In the post, DRDO confirmed: “Salvo lunch of two Pralay Missile in quick succession from same launcher were successfully conducted today from ITR, Chandipur. The flight test was conducted as part of User evaluation trials. Both the missiles followed the intended trajectory meeting all flight objectives."
The Pralay missile, which is indigenously developed, is a solid propellant quasi-ballistic missile known for its high precision and state-of-the-art guidance and navigation systems. It is capable of carrying a variety of warheads and targeting multiple types of objectives. This missile is an important part of India’s growing defence capabilities.
The launch was carried out from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur, Odisha. According to DRDO, both missiles followed their intended flight paths, with tracking sensors confirming their accuracy.
The terminal events of the missiles were also confirmed by telemetry systems installed on a ship near the impact zones. This indicates that the missiles performed exactly as expected, fulfilling all mission requirements.
The successful test was the result of collaboration between several DRDO laboratories, including the Research Centre Imarat, Defence Research and Development Laboratory, and Advanced Systems Laboratory, among others. The two missile systems were integrated with the help of Bharat Dynamics Limited and Bharat Electronics Limited, DRDO’s development-cum-production partners.
Senior scientists from DRDO, representatives from the Indian Air Force and Indian Army, as well as industry partners, attended the test.
