A shocking case of ragging has surfaced at an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) College hostel in Thirumangalam, Madurai, Tamil Nadu, where a student was allegedly stripped naked and assaulted by fellow students.

A video of the incident, which has gone viral on social media, shows a group of students forcibly removing the victim’s clothes, mocking him, and hitting him with a slipper on his genitals.

The incident came to light after the student’s parents filed a complaint with the authorities.

Following the complaint, police registered a case against three students involved in the assault, and the hostel warden has been suspended pending an official investigation.

In February 2025, five students from the Government College of Nursing in Kottayam, Kerala, were arrested for brutally ragging their juniors.

The harassment, ongoing since November 2024, included violent acts such as making cuts on the juniors’ bodies, applying cream to the injuries and their mouths, stripping them naked, hanging dumbbells on their private parts, and using stationery items to inflict pain. Unable to endure the abuse, the victims filed a complaint with the Gandhinagar police station, resulting in the suspension of all five accused students.
