A Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader was shot dead in Bihar’s Patna. The deceased was identified as Rajkumar Ray, who was also a property dealer.
The incident occurred on Wednesday near the Rajendra Nagar terminal when two bike-borne miscreants opened fire at Ray, leaving him dead on the spot.
According to the police cited by ANI, Ray was shot dead by the criminals who were chasing him. He was rushed to the hospital following the incident, but the doctors declared him dead.
“The deceased, a resident of Vaishali Raghopur, currently living in Munna Chak, had returned from some work in a four-wheeler and started buying some food items from a hotel in the street just before his house, when the criminals fired six bullets at him, due to which he fell on the ground. On receiving the information of the incident, the Chitragupt Nagar police station, located at a distance of a few steps, reached the spot, according to Parichay Kumar, SP East.
The official further added that six bullet shells have been recovered from the scene, adding that two criminals were seen in the CCTV footage.
He said, “The deceased was associated with a political party and also had some land-related business."
A further investigation into the matter is underway, and police are currently checking the CCTV footage to identify the accused.
As of now, the case is being investigated by Eastern SP Parichay Kumar, ASP Sadar Shri Abhinav, Kankarbagh police station in-charge Abhay Kumar, and Chitragupt Nagar police station in-charge.
The incident comes days after a 55-year-old retired electricity worker and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) block general secretary was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Pakauli village of Vaishali district in Bihar in August.
