Rahul Dravid votes, urges Bengaluru residents ‘to create record’

JJ News Desk

India head coach Rahul Dravid cast his vote on Friday, 26 April in Bengaluru. With the Lok Sabha elections taking place across India in phases, Dravid took time out of his busy schedule to cast his vote. Asked by the media about the elections and the voting process, Dravid had a powerful message to share with the youth of India.

"It's my vote. This is an opportunity for all of us to celebrate our democracy and take part in it. The Police have done a great job, the arrangements are fantastic. I hope that Bengaluru creates a record in terms of voter turnout. Everyone should come out, you, the media should send out a message to the public so that adequate discussion are done on this so that they can come out in large numbers," Rahul Dravid told India Today.

The Indian head coach is currently keeping a keen eye on the Indian Premier League. India is expected to finalise their top 15 players for the T20 World Cup 2024 by the end of April. Dravid had spoken about the selections during the England Test series and had indicated that a big weightage will be given to the IPL given India did not play a lot of T20Is in the run-up to the T20 World Cup, set to be held in June.

The IPL 2024 has been a topsy-turvy tournament for several Indian stars like Hardik Pandya, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja, names that are usually expected to be in the playing XI of the national side. The side will hope to clinch the title this time, having appeared in the previous edition of the tournament, played in Australia in 2022.
