Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Manipur on Saturday (September 13, 2025), his first visit since ethnic violence erupted in the State in May 2023. He is expected to lead a roadshow and address gatherings of thousands of people in Imphal and Churachandpur.

Mr. Modi will also inaugurate projects worth ₹8,500 crore in the hill and valley districts and meet those displaced from their homes after the ethnic violence between the Meitei and the Kuki-Zo people erupted on May 3, 2023.

Before arriving in Manipur, Mr. Modi launched projects worth ₹9,000 crore in Mizoram and addressed a public rally virtually from Lengpui Airport near Aizawl as he could not reach the venue, Lammual Ground in the heart of the city, due to heavy rain.

In Mizoram, Mr. Modi launched the Bairabi-Sairang line, which brought landlocked Mizoram to the country’s railway map, and said it was a historic day for the state as it would connect the state capital Aizawl with major metropolises.
