Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has announced his marriage to journalist Nidhi Razdan, sharing the news on social media on Saturday.

Taking to Instagram, Abdullah posted a picture with Razdan and wrote, “A new journey began yesterday”, tagging her in the post

Razdan also confirmed the development through a post on X. Sharing a message while tagging Omar Abdullah, she wrote, “It’s done, bro".

The announcement marks a new chapter for the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, who shared the update with his followers a day after the wedding.

The development comes three months after the Supreme Court agreed to grant Omar Abdullah a divorce from his estranged wife, Payal Abdullah.

On July 31, 2026, the Supreme Court said it would dissolve their marriage after both parties informed the court that they had mutually agreed to end their relationship and settle all pending disputes. They also agreed to withdraw the cases filed against each other.

The matter reached the Supreme Court after Omar Abdullah challenged the Delhi High Court's decision refusing to grant him a divorce. During the proceedings, the couple jointly submitted an application seeking dissolution of their marriage by mutual consent under Article 142 of the Constitution.

Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for the couple, informed the court that they had agreed to settle their differences.

Omar Abdullah and Payal married in 1994 after meeting while working at The Oberoi hotel in Delhi. They have two sons, Zahir and Zamir.

The couple had been living separately since 2009, and Omar announced their separation in 2011. The Supreme Court had earlier observed that they had been living apart for several years.
