The Congress on Thursday promised to provide 300 units of free electricity, LPG cylinders at Rs 500 and free ration kits ahead of the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.

Introducing the 'Mehngai Mukt' Yojana to appeal to voters amid inflation, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, addressing a press conference, said, "Congress will fulfil its five guarantees if it is elected to power in Delhi." Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav, along with other senior party leaders, were also present.

In a bid to reach out to women voters, the Congress, last week, had also promised to give Rs 2,500 to every woman if voted to power. On January 8, the Grand Old Party announced another scheme called 'Jeevan Raksha Yojana' where free health cover up to Rs 25 lakh was promised.

The party further promised to support educated, unemployed youth by providing Rs 8,500 every month for one year if elected to power.

The Delhi elections will be held on February 5 and the outcome will be announced on February 8. AAP will be eyeing a hattrick in the national capital after winning convincingly in 2015 and 2020.

The BJP, which has been out of power in Delhi since 1998, has intensified its campaign against AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal, trying to corner him and his party over corruption, following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'AAP-da' (disaster) jibe.

On the other hand, the Congress had failed to win any seats in the last two Assembly elections in Delhi.
