An FIR has been registered against an unidentified person in connection with the Lamborghini car crash in Kanpur that left at least six people injured. Police said the case has been filed under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Gwal Toli police station and further investigation is underway.
The accident occurred on Sunday afternoon on VIP Road near Rev-3 Mall in the Gwaltoli area when a high-speed Lamborghini rammed into pedestrians, an auto-rickshaw and parked two-wheelers. Police said the FIR does not name the driver.
Police initially said the driver complained of health issues and was taken to a hospital, though officials later said there was no clarity on where he was taken or his medical condition. No arrests or detentions have been made so far, police added.
After the crash, the driver allegedly attempted to flee the scene with the help of bouncers who were following him in another car, reported NDTV. Videos from the spot show the bouncers escorting him away as a crowd gathered and arguments broke out with local residents.
Police said the Lamborghini involved in the crash is registered in the name of KK Mishra.
According to officials, the luxury car first hit an auto-rickshaw, then rammed into a parked Royal Enfield motorcycle, flinging its rider several metres before crashing into an electric pole. One of the injured, Taufiq, a resident of Yamunaganj, suffered leg injuries, while others sustained fractures and wounds.
Police said further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
