In the Kanpur Lamborghini accident case, Shivam Mishra’s lawyer, Mrityunjay Kumar, on Monday claimed that his client was not driving the Lamborghini at the time of the accident.

He said the car was being driven by Shivam’s driver, Mohan, and described the incident as an accident case. Shivam Mishra is the son of tobacco businessman KK Mishra.

“The hearing proceedings will be held tomorrow. Shivam was not driving; his driver, Mohan, was. This is an accident case. When he was not driving, then there can be no case against him," the lawyer said.

The accident, which left at least six people injured, occurred on Sunday afternoon on VIP Road near Rev-3 Mall in the Gwaltoli area when a high-speed Lamborghini rammed into pedestrians, an auto-rickshaw and parked two-wheelers.

However, the family of Shivam, who was reportedly driving the car, has claimed that he allegedly suffered a seizure while behind the wheel, reported Hindustan Times.

According to officials, the luxury car first hit an auto-rickshaw, then rammed into a parked Royal Enfield motorcycle, flinging its rider several metres before crashing into an electric pole. One of the injured, Taufiq, a resident of Yamunaganj, suffered leg injuries, while others sustained fractures and wounds.

During a press conference, Kanpur Police Commissioner Raghubir Lal says, “We have found the details of the car. The car has been seized. The car was driven by Shivam Mishra. After the accident, Shivam Mishra’s bouncers pulled him out of the car. It is being said that he has some medical issues. The FIR of the accident was registered earlier, and now, in our investigation, we have learned that the name of the driver is Shivam Mishra."

After the crash, the driver allegedly tried to escape with the help of bouncers who were following in another vehicle, NDTV reported. Videos from the scene show the bouncers escorting him away as a crowd gathered and arguments erupted with local residents.

Police said the Lamborghini involved in the accident is registered in the name of KK Mishra.
