Details Of FIR In Ranveer Allahbadia Row Out: 'Samay Raina's Move Deliberate, Wanted Social Unrest'

Ranveer Allahbadia Controversy: Maharashtra's cyber department highlighted a particular instance where derogatory comments were made about women and people from Arunachal Pradesh, which could incite communal disharmony.

Comedian Samay Raina ‘deliberately uploaded’ the controversial episode of ‘India’s Got Latent’, featuring podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, to ‘hurt religious sentiments and cause social unrest’, an FIR filed by Maharashtra cyber department stated.

The complaint highlights a particular instance where derogatory comments were made about women and people from Arunachal Pradesh, which could incite communal disharmony.

The FIR also accused Samay Raina of deliberately posting content to hurt religious sentiments which included statements made during a live stream, involving inappropriate remarks about women and religious beliefs.

The FIR came over Ranveer Allahbadia’s comments on ‘India’s Got Latent’ following which the influencer found himself in deeper trouble as Mumbai police arrived at his home for questioning. The episode was removed by YouTube and the issue was even brought up in Parliament.

Ranveer Allahbadia, who has over 16 million followers across various social media platforms, sparked a controversy when a clip of his comments went viral. Following this, he posted a video apology, calling his remark a “lapse in judgment."

NCW summons Ranveer Allahabadia, Samay Raina and others

The National Commission for Women (NCW) expressed concern and summoned Ranveer Allahbadia, along with Samay Raina, Apoorva Makhija, Jaspreet Singh, and Ashish Chanchlani- who were present on the show. The show’s producers, Tushar Poojari and Saurabh Bothra, were also asked to appear before the commission.

“These comments, which have sparked widespread public outrage, violate the dignity and respect owed to every individual, particularly in a society that upholds equality and mutual respect. In light of this concern, under the instructions of NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar, a hearing has been scheduled to address the controversial remark made by the content creators on India’s Got Latent," the NCW said in a statement.
