In a dramatic public showdown within the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), senior leader and Delhi Cabinet Minister Atishi Marlena has directly confronted Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha, accusing him of being “afraid of BJP and Modi ji” and failing to raise critical issues concerning democracy and the common man.
The explosive exchange unfolded on X (formerly Twitter) today, with both leaders posting video messages that have already racked up millions of views and thousands of reactions.
It started with Raghav Chadha’s video post earlier today, captioned “Silenced, not defeated – My message to the ‘aam aadmi’” (खामोश करवाया गया हूँ, हारा नहीं हूँ). In it, Chadha — AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab — claimed he had been muzzled but remained committed to raising people’s issues in Parliament.
Atishi fired back within hours with her own hard-hitting video, directly addressing Chadha with a series of pointed questions. Speaking from what appears to be a garden setting, Atishi said:
“Today, I would like to ask Rajya Sabha Sansad Raghav Chadha ji some questions. Mr. Raghav Ji, why are you so afraid of BJP? Why do you fear asking questions from BJP now? Why do you fear asking questions from Modi ji now?”
She went on to accuse him of staying silent on several key issues:
Alleged misuse of the Election Commission in the West Bengal elections, including “votes being cut off wrongly.”
Refusing to sign an impeachment motion against the Election Commission brought by the Trinamool Congress and opposition parties.
Not raising the LPG gas cylinder crisis affecting ordinary families, even though AAP MLAs and MPs had highlighted it in Parliament and assemblies.
Atishi contrasted Chadha’s alleged silence with the street protests by AAP workers (including herself) when Arvind Kejriwal was arrested:
“When Arvind Kejriwal was arrested, we all stood and fought… police started beating us… We were detained… Every day we fought on the streets. You are now living in London. You told me that my eyes have been operated… Raghav Chadha ji did not get scared… But today, Raghav ji, I too have this question — when Arvind Kejriwal was arrested, were you still afraid of BJP? Are you scared of Modi Ji? Did you run away to London in fear?”
She concluded with a direct challenge: “Today you have to decide — are you with the Constitution or with Modi ji?”
On Raghav Chadha's removal as the Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha, Amarinder Singh Raja Warring says, "... It is now clear that Raghav Chadha is separate from the Aam Aadmi Party. People realised this long ago, when he went to London while Kejriwal was arrested. Public perception now is that Chadha will leave or be removed from the party and join elsewhere. Earlier, he was given privileges like a big bungalow and security, but the party has changed its stance within a year..."
Sanjay Singh Joins the Attack in Separate Video
In a parallel video posted shortly after, AAP leader Sanjay Singh echoed similar sentiments while standing outdoors near greenery. Addressing Raghav Chadha’s recent video directly, Singh declared:
As of now, Raghav Chadha and the AAP high command have not issued an official response. The party’s internal dynamics are firmly under the national spotlight.
This story is developing rapidly. With multiple state elections approaching and AAP already battling multiple legal and political challenges, such open discord could significantly impact its image as a united alternative force.
