Patna: A protest by aspirants of the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE) 4.0 turned violent in Patna on Friday after demonstrators demanding the release of the recruitment notification clashed with police. Authorities later resorted to lathi-charge to disperse the crowd.

Hundreds of teacher aspirants had gathered in the city to protest against the delay in the release of the TRE 4.0 notification. Protesters alleged that the Bihar government and the Bihar Public Service Commission were repeatedly postponing the recruitment process despite earlier assurances regarding vacancies.

According to reports, tensions escalated when demonstrators attempted to move past police barricades during the march. The situation soon turned chaotic, leading to scuffles between protesters and security personnel. Police then used batons to disperse the crowd and restore order.

The protest reflects growing frustration among job aspirants in Bihar over delays in government recruitment examinations, especially for teaching posts. Candidates have been demanding clarity on vacancy numbers and a fixed timeline for the TRE 4.0 examination notification.

Several videos of the protest and the police action surfaced on social media soon after the incident, drawing reactions from students, political leaders, and education activists. Some aspirants also alleged that peaceful protesters were targeted during the lathi-charge, though officials defended the police action, saying force was used only after the crowd became unruly.

This is not the first time teacher recruitment protests in Bihar have witnessed police intervention. Similar demonstrations linked to BPSC recruitment delays and examination issues have taken place in Patna over the past year.
